Since the 90’s through today, he has been awarded various literary awards such as the Akutagawa Award. Debuted in 1994 with “American Night” receiving the Gunzo Rookie of the Year Award (*1) His title “Individual Projection”（1997）featuring a main character trained at a spy academy created the new term “Shibuya literature” and became a sensation.
He has received the Noma Literary Rookie Award with “Flinty World” (1999), the 15th Sei Ito Literary Award and the 58th Mainichi Publishing Culture Award with “Sinsemilla”（2003）an epic featuring over 50 characters, the Akutagawa Award (*2) with “Grand Finale”（2005）, and the Junichiro Tanizaki Award(*3) with “Pistols”(2010). “Individual Projection” and “Sinsemilla” have been published in France and received high reviews.
